The face of the small, local insurance agency has changed over the years. Their great grandfather, who founded the agency, grew the business from a part-time fire insurance agency into a larger, more diversified firm. Their grandmother kept the agency alive through the Depression by accepting goods in place of cash payment of premiums. The result is the statuesque blue spruce that sits at the front of the building, a constant reminder of the resourcefulness of the Emmons-Watrous clan. Their father rejuvenated the family business from its post-depression woes in the period of prosperity and expansion following World War II. Ray and Tom joined the family business within one year of each other in the early 1970's and purchased the business from their father and mentor, Harry Archambault in 1987.
In the past three decades the business has made the journey into the 21st century with a constant upgrade of computer technology and moves now into e-commerce with its web site and e-mail capabilities. Though the face of the agency has changed over the years, mixing more commercial with personal lines business and replacing the typewriter with the computer and keyboard, the commitment to personal service has never been abandoned. Technology is used to move information and documentation with modern speed, but old-fashioned contact with your fellow human is never the price to be paid by the customers of Archambault Insurance.
